Bamboozle Your Way Through the Holidays
The holidays have a way of sneaking up on us every year, whether we’re ready or not. It’s so easy with the hustle and bustle this time of year to put our health on the back burner. But it’s the time we need to be most vigilant with our health.
Between all the office parties and family get-togethers, the shopping and event prep work, in general, we’re wearing ourselves down. With all the holiday goodies we may eat in a way that adversely affects our health.
For instance, dairy can react with your sinuses. If you have allergy or sinus issues and are constantly sniffling, dairy may be something you’d want to avoid.
Or maybe you’ve worked hard all year to cut back on your carb and sugar intake. Now, with the holidays rolling around, it’s like walking into a candy-carb wonderland! Sometimes the temptation is just too great to resist, and you find yourself sluggish and even guilty for indulging.
There’s good news…
You can get through the holidays feeling energized and fantastic by giving yourself some grace and remembering some simple tips to keep you on your healthy track.
Holiday Healthy Track Tips
Diligently Wash Your Hands
Sure, this may be a no brainer, but it should be noted. During the holidays, we’re shaking more hands, hugging more relatives, and spreading more germs.
Eat a Light, Healthy Snack Before Going Out
Whether you’re running errands or going to the office potluck, eat something healthy beforehand. Maybe plan a quick stop at one of our two Bamboozle locations. That way you’ll reduce the temptation of overindulging later.
Hydrate, Hydrate, Hydrate
With all those hot chocolates, coffees, or alcoholic drinks, it’s more important than ever to keep yourself hydrated. Keep that water flowing through your body.
Keep Your Schedule
Getting off our normal routine is hard on you physically and mentally. If you keep your mealtimes the same and your general activities close to the same, you’ll feel better.
Sleep
You know sleep is important. When you’re under stress, it’s even MORE important to get good, sound sleep. With your busier schedule, it’s easy to sacrifice your sleep time. Give yourself a break and get plenty of rest.
Share Smiles
Such a simple thing, isn’t it? A smile can really make you and those around you feel better! Just the act of smiling will lift your spirits. And a smile from a stranger, a friend, or a loved one is even better because it makes you happy. When you share a smile, you typically receive a smile. Happier people make for healthier people.
Alone Time
Carve out a little quiet time just for yourself. If you’re feeling frazzled with all the activity, your alone time will calm those nerves, energize you, and help get you feeling like yourself again.
These little tips can help you in big ways to stay healthy through the holidays as well as the rest of the year.
